Vans Syndicate, the alliance between Mr. Cartoon and NBHD

Vans Syndicate was born with the aim of bringing together different names of design and counterculture in a new collection focused on Vans’ historical figures. NBHD and Mister Cartoon are now launching their combined collection based on the Authentic 44 DX and the Old Skool 36 DX.

For its latest launch, Vans Syndicate NBHD travels from Japan to Los Angeles to partner with Mister Cartoon, graffiti artist, tattoo artist and one of the essential names in understanding lowrider culture and popularizing it in a broader context. Classic cars from previous decades tuned to modify their height, massive tires, bodywork painted in bright colors and references to Los Angeles, Mexican culture and the owner's own history.

Mister Cartoon is, for many, the point of union of a new Chicano culture mixed with hip hop that was beginning to flourish in the 90s. Mister Cartoon took the techniques and style of the airbrush to the imaginary of Snoop Dogg, Eazy E and Cypress Hill, became the tattooist of the stars (Kobe Bryant, Pharrell, Beyonce and Robert De Niro) and showed the world a new face of Los Angeles, even through video games (his are the graffiti of GTA St Andreas).

Japan and its particular way of adopting American subcultures, has used its handcrafting tradition to rebuild the most classic cars, and from them, make up a new culture. NBHDalways attentive to urban subcultures, brings some of these ideas back to Los Angeles.
