    Pau Cristòful

Born and raised in Vic, a small town in Catalonia about an hour by car from Barcelona, Pau Cristòful grew up in the music scene. Working as a music journalist and organizing shows in his hometown at just the age of 14, his enthusiasm for music and strong work ethic catapulted him to Mediterranean metropolis and onto the main stage of organizing some of Spain’s major annual festivals.

As a booking agent for Primavera Sound and MUTEK, Pau’s keen ear for experimental sounds and emerging artists has led him to introduce a slew of unique acts and unforgettable performances by local and international artists to audiences in Spain, while his role for Nitsa has allowed him to deliver the energizing sounds of underground electronic music to one of Barcelona’s hottest dance floors. When put all together, these projects are an ode to the city Pau calls home and a fitting representation of the long lasting impression they will continue to leave on one another.

Born into one of Barcelona’s most notable culinary families, Meilan Kao was introduced to the world of gastronomy at a very young age. The granddaughter of Kao Tze Chien, former chef for the first Chinese restaurant in Spain, she has always been immersed in food culture and a family that has made a name for itself since 1956, becoming synonymous in Barcelona with quality, delicious and innovative Chinese food with restaurants like Shanghai, run by Meilan’s father Jose Maria Kao.

While a chef by blood, Meilan did not join the family business until 2012, focusing on her studies in International Business in Barcelona, before moving to L.A. to work in fashion. This background prepared her for the other side of the world of gastronomy, the style and image of Grupo Kao. Alongside her sister, Nayan, they have successfully opened four new restaurants: Kao Dim Sum, Mr Kao, Kao Street, and Kao Soldeu. Each restaurant adds to the Kao legacy in Barcelona, delivering a blend of new concepts that still keep in touch with their family roots. With each growing project, Meilan establishes herself as a visionary in gastronomy sharing her knowledge of cuisine, her culture and passion for creativity with Barcelona’s residents, leaving a lasting mark in the industry and city along the way.

Pau and Meilan’s stories are just two out of a million stories about Barcelona, a city that has a way of nurturing, inspiring and growing alongside each of its residents - creating a city of risers, the inspiration behind the capsule collection worn by Pau and Meilan in the short films.
