MNTLR presents 'OBSCURED', in collaboration with SVD

Last Thursday, December 15 MANTELERIA and SVD presented the ‘OBSCURED’ capsule, an upcycling project composed of an exclusive collection of reinvented icons for lovers of limited and high-end editions.

The designer and founder of MANTELERIA, Juan Rincón, unveiled the carefully curated selection of durable, timeless and distinctive garments that represent the essence of the materials and fabrics of brands such as HELMUT LANG, Acne Studios, Maison Martin Margiela and Yohji Yamamoto. A selection of 36 high-quality pieces, which comprise this dark fantasy of classic garments and footwear, inspired by military aesthetic. A poem from Lorca's ‘Romancero gitano’ collection is embroidered on one of the biker jackets.

Texan and military jackets, twill trench coats and cowboy boots combine different techniques in the same project, with black as the common thread throughout the collection, be it in silkscreen printing, dyeing or freehand painting of motifs of destruction and rebirth.

The crowd gathered around the five points of light where the models displayed each garment while—just as if the pieces were put up for auction—a speaker explained all of their characteristics. The attendees were also able to enjoy Bandini's natural wines and tableware.

The event brought back the essence of MANTELERIA: giving clothes a second life, as well as contributing to the circular economy. Therefore, the radical nature and authenticity of the fabrics, which form the basis of this project, were strongly emphasized.
