SVD Presents: The Intergenerational Encounter of Hombre Niño

The brand of Yoshifumi "YOPPI" Egawa, a pioneer of Japanese culture and urban sports, arrives at SVD.

The evolution of Japanese design has been through the skateboarding of the nineties, the Una-Harajuku stores, the creation of streetwear brands and great collaborations. In all of them appears the name of a person who prefers to stay out of the spotlight, that is Yoshifumi "YOPPI" Egawa.

YOPPI's story begins, like many others, in the world of professional skateboarding. His trips to the United States to skate opened the door to new trends that he brought to Tokyo, a work of selection of items that led to the creation of Hectic, which began as a simple store before becoming a fashion design brand.

Later, through his brands such as PKG, Mad HECTIC or Masterpiece, or in collaboration with XLARGE, ICECREAM, adidas or Mita, YOPPI remixed many images that came to us from Asia. In 1997, as a bridge between Japan and the United States, YOPPI introduced Brian Donelly (also known as KAWS) to designers Nigo, Jun Takahashi and Shinsuke Takizawa, a meeting that would lead to the artist's subsequent collaborations with A Bathing Ape, Undercover and Neighborhood.

YOPPI's creative style has some of that cool-hunting character and his experience in skateboarding and music, which he incorporates into his collections designed from the deconstruction of garments, as if it was a mixtape. With his latest brand, Hombre Niño, he creates garments that work with the same success in both men's and boys' sizes to fulfill an old dream.

Hombre Niño, founded in 2012, is YOPPI's commitment to a new style that plays with the energy of youth and the serenity of adulthood. Now available at SVD.
