Inside the Nike x AMBUSH capsule dinner at SVD

Last Thursday 23, SVD hosted an exclusive experience to mark the new Nike x Ambush capsule drop with a dinner hosted by MARICAS, a queer collective from Barcelona's underground scene. To represent Nike's reinterpretation of a classic, this meal featured a futuristic twist, reflected in the food, music, and community.

Drawing from Yoon Ahn’s unique POV, Nike and Ambush brought a visionary take on the classic Air Force 1 Low through Yoon's re-imagination of rave culture mixed with traditional sport culture under the umbrella of Techno Utopia. After releasing the “Game Royal” and “Green” models last December, there are now two new colorways in the works: “Phantom” and “Black”. Techno tells the story of nightlife-fueled temporary spaces where guests step out of the rigidity of ‘normal’ society and enter a space of transformation, expression, and a Femme-Forward “tone of voice”.

These two new colorways continue to draw inspiration from Techno Utopia and include elements of Tokyo nightlife and the vibrant bõsõzoku culture, (an eclectic community that customizes motorcycles, cars and trucks). This time around, the Swoosh, now in a more prominent and exaggerated style, appears to pop out of the shoe and evokes an off-road motorcycle feel, while elements of American football are incorporated into the garments.

As part of the unveiling, guests enjoyed a meal at SVD's flagship store as well as a DJ set by ISAbella, co-founder of the collective that fuses techno music and queer culture in the city. It was a perfect match between the collective's nightlife inspirations and the city's club sub-culture, and the partnership between the two brands.

Another highlight of the evening was the gastronomic experience presented by chef Alejandro Serrano,  who put together a 6-course menu and created 3 cocktails based on the Techno Escapism universe. Serrano, the youngest Spaniard to achieve a Michelin star, introduced his sea-inspired flavors in the form of a “Psychedelic Prawn” and a “Sea Forest Salad”. As Alejandro explained, the menu was inspired by “a psychedelic vision - the underground scene, incorporating fine marine products with colors, flavors, and psychedelic aesthetics - logically, it's impossible, but music, light, and feelings make it happen.”
