Dr. Martens and Neighborhood team up for a new collaboration

The alliance of two brands that focus on subcultures, workwear and craftsmanship.

Dr. Martens' list of Japanese partners is as long as it is bold: Suicoke, Yohji Yamamoto, UNDERCOVER, WTAPS, Fragment and Medicom Toy. Each has reinterpreted some of the British brand's classics, always with scrupulous respect for the original silhouettes and their stories, originally tied to British subculture movements. Now, three years after their first collaboration, Dr. Martens and Neighborhood are teaming up again for a capsule collection.

The two models chosen for the new collaboration with NBHD are linked to the favorite creative elements of brand’s founder Shinsuke Takizawa: workwear, military clothing and biker spirit. Elements already present in Dr. Martens and that Japan has made their own.

The 2976 is shaped like the Chelsea boots, created for Queen Victoria in the 19th century and revived in the mid 1900s by a group of artists from the namesake city, becoming the ultimate shoe for mods first and an entire generation later. In the 1970s, Dr. Martens created his own version of the Chelsea, and they've remained virtually unchanged ever since.

The three-eyelet shoe 1461 was the second design created by Dr. Martens, and has been in use since April 1, 1961—the date of its introduction and origin of its name. The design, based on the 1460 boot, retained its essential cushioned sole.

The 2976 and 1461 models in the Dr. Martens x NBHD collaboration are made in Cobbs Lane, where the first boot was launched in 1960. Featuring paint splatters, white stitching and reflective tabs, they will be available on SVD starting December 4.
